Cube Explorer 4.30

New:

Cube Explorer now also runs correctly under Windows Vista, under LINUX you may use WINE to run the program.

WebCam interface now uses DirectShow instead of the outdated VfW.

Command-line optimal solver for quarter-turn-metric supports suboptimal solutions.

If you like Cube Explorer you can show your appreciation for hundreds of hours of work.

I recently found a nice video documenting a student project at the Florida Institute of Technology, which uses Cube Explorer's webcam and color recognition interface to solve a Rubik's cube with a robot. You can download it from this or this location.

The Rubot II also uses the webcam interface and solving power of Cube Explorer behind the scenes to analyze a cube and to find a solution.

Last but not least here is an older TechTV video which shows some basic features of Cube Explorer.

Cube Explorer is not one of the many programs which just simulate the Cube, or solve scrambled Cubes with lengthy maneuvers. Cube Explorer implements a sophisticated and very powerful algorithm. Given a scrambled Cube of your choice, it produces very short solving maneuvers. This algorithm quickly provides a solving sequence of 19 moves on average, usually only one or two moves more than the perfect solution.

Cube Explorer also assists you in finding Pretty Patterns with the Pattern Editor or the Symmetry Editor.

These Pretty Patterns were found by Cube Explorer.

Please note: Cube Explorer is not derived from, is not associated with and is not endorsed or sponsered by the owner of the RUBIK'S CUBE Trademark. This owner is Seven Towns Limited, the manufacturer and worldwide distributor of the RUBIK'S CUBE three dimensional puzzle and provider of an electronic version of the puzzle via its official web site.
Cube Explorer is a non-commercial, educational product. It is freeware and the result of scientific research.
